Luxembourg Football LeagueWeekend's matches cancelled after rapid test row

RTL Today
All matches in the BGL national football division have been cancelled this weekend after a disagreement erupted concerning the use of mandatory rapid antigen tests for Covid-19.

The LFL had ruled that the national football division would not be subjected to mandatory rapid Covid testing, in contrast to other sports in the country. However, the municipality of Differdange has now implemented a new rule which will only permit matches to go ahead on its pitches provided both teams have undergone testing. The LFL has now announced the cancellation of this weekend’s games as a result.

Both men’s and women’s football matches have been affected by the decision. The games will be postponed to a later date.

The FLF football federation said they hoped to meet with Minister of Sport Dan Kersch over the coming days to find a solution for the clubs involved in the disagreement.
