From cigarette butts to school uniforms15 new petitions open for signatures on Chamber of Deputies website

RTL Today
Many of the petitions revolve around the virus crisis. One petitioner for instance demands that schools maintain smaller groups while another demands the strengthening of state support that was unblocked during the crisis.

Other petitions demand the abolition of the mandatory collective holidays in the construction sector, a more efficient fight against disposed cigarette butts, and the introduction of school uniforms.

The petitions can be signed until 6 August. Each petition attracting more than 4,500 signatures will be debated by parliament. The complete list can be found on chd.lu.

Four recent petitions passed the 4,500-signature mark and will consequently be debated at the Chamber of Deputies. Before the summer holidays, MPs will debate whether schools should only reopen in September, and whether there will be a bonus for health and care staff. After the summer holidays, MPs will debate the potential ban on 5G networks in Luxembourg, and the implementation of remote work as a legal right.

MPs will also meet next week to discuss the problem of racism in Luxembourg, and the preparations for a potential second wave of virus infections.
