The accident caused the death of a 17-year-old girl who had been sitting in the back seat, as well serious injuries to the person in the passenger seat.
The mother of the deceased was accorded €44,000, while the passenger received an advance sum of €12,500 while awaiting an assessment of total damages suffered.
The driver, who was under the influence of alcohol and drugs, had been driving down a straight bit of road when he came off the road, forcibly pulling the steering wheel to the side and consequently hitting three trees.
He received an 18 month-long suspended sentence, a €1,000 fine and two year driving ban.
