
Around 9% of the 3,500 pupils taking their final-year exams failed and will be forced to repeat the year, while the rest will be able to retake certain exams.
This year’s results represent a slight drop on 2021, which saw 77% pass their final exams, while the average of the last ten years was 78%.
Minister of Education Claude Meisch expressed satisfaction over the results of this year’s final exams in secondary education: “These are impressive results in light of three school years marked by pandemic restrictions.”
Across the ‘classical’ high schools, 83% of pupils passed their exams, 2% less than last year. The passing rate in ‘general’ high schools was 68%.
Women generally record better passing rates than men: 84% versus 82% in classical high schools, and 71% versus 64% in general high schools.
A total of 116 students passed their exams with distinction - 105 in classical high schools and eleven in general high schools.
