
The site had to be approved before work on the bypass could begin. The area has been transformed into a habitat for animals and plants that would lose their homes as a result of the bypass construction.
The works have been delayed due to a missing environmental authorisation.
The first preparations for the construction of the bypass began in 2012. Construction will now definitely start in autumn 2022.
Some 10,000 cars drive over the ‘3 Kantonsstrooss’ at Dippach Railway Station every day. Local residents have repeatedly complained about the excessive noise and pollution. During rush hour, the gate is closed for 40 minutes in a one-hour period.
If construction starts in autumn, the bypass is expected to open for traffic two years later.
