Traffic delays are being reported on the A3 motorway on Wednesday afternoon. Police have said that a vehicle caught fire on the lanes heading towards Luxembourg City, very close to the French border. Traffic in that direction was lighter than on the opposite carriageway, where the evening rush hour was already building up towards France.
Firefighters were at the scene at 5pm to bring the blaze under control. The vehicle was completely destroyed. According to the Grand Ducal Fire and Rescue Corps (CGDIS), no one was injured in the fire.
According to information received, the right-hand lane is blocked and traffic is only flowing in the left lane. A tailback of around two kilometres is being reported.
A further road accident took place on the CR105 between Marienthal and Reckange, leaving one person injured. Rescue crews from Boevange-sur-Attert and Tuntange attended the scene.
