Following the sharp drop in diesel and SP98 on Wednesday, a further big cut is on the way overnight from Wednesday to Thursday.
From midnight, SP95 will fall by 8.9 cents per litre to €1.619. That works out at a saving of €4.45 on a 50-litre fill-up, which will cost €80.95 from Thursday onwards.
Diesel remains at €1.853 per litre, while SP98 stands at €1.798.
Optimism is prevailing on the financial markets, where fears linked to the Middle East had earlier fed the price rises. With diplomatic efforts resuming, Brent crude, the global benchmark, is now trading below the symbolic $80 mark, close to its levels before the war between the United States and Iran broke out at the end of February, and a long way off the $126 reached at the height of the crisis in the Middle East.
