Evans spoke to Stephen ‘Steps’ Lowe about what it’s like coordinating major global news, of which Boris Johnson’s resignation was just one recent example.

Evans said the news of the UK prime minister stepping down led global headlines, with even major US network CBS leading on the news.

He claimed Johnson was ultimately brought down by a cover-up attempt over the activities of Chris Pincher, a member of the government accused of drunkenly groping two men at a Conservative private members’ club, as well as other historic allegations of misconduct.

Evans described Johnson’s resignation as a “marvellous tale of confusion”, as the prime minister announced his resignation without actually leaving office. Evans said Johnson was keen to not be one of the shortest-serving prime ministers.

ENEX is associated with RTL Luxembourg. The association brings in audio and video footage from around the world for the use of RTL Today and other news organisations.
