On Saturday, more than 230 registered CSV members convened at the Forum Geesseknäppchen for the party's annual national congress, during which they got a first glimpse on the party's new logo.

“Something new arises” is the new motto of the Christian Social People’s Party. Following a number of internal debates and disputes that dominated the party in recent times, CSV is now looking ahead with a brand new logo.

The new logo has been designed to better reflect the party’s diversity, explained CSV officials at the congress. They further emphasised that they want to present themselves in more professional and dynamic manner in the future.

An internal task force spent the past couple of months planning CSV’s new direction. Party president Claude Wiseler elaborated that CSV remains in the centre of the political spectrum, close to the people of Luxembourg, and free of preconceptions.

Equality of opportunity was another major topic at the congress. CSV fraction president Gilles Roth talked about the housing market, inflation, and the index cut, proposing several ways to counteract the problems by changing tax policies.

Roth thus argued that the minimum taxable amount should be raised and that more people should be able to benefit from tax cuts. Furthermore, he believes that additional taxes should be introduced for high-end salaries.

Nicolas Zharov, president of non-profit organisation LUkraine, was invited as guest speaker. He addressed the CSV members at the congress and thanked them for their firm stance. He further underlined that Ukraine continues fighting for European values.

On 11 March 2023, CSV will announce its campaign and frontrunners for the 2023 elections.
