
On Thursday morning around 8.00am, a man was attacked while at a cash machine on the crossroads between Avenue de la Gare and Avenue de la Liberté. The unknown perpetrator grabbed €50 in cash and stole the victim’s phone before fleeing the scene. When the victim attempted to remove his card from the cashpoint, it was damaged.
According to the police description, the perpetrator was white, with black hair, and wore a green top.
Alcohol-related accidents
In Pétange, an intoxicated motorcyclist crashed at the junction between Rue du Stade and Avenue de l’Europe at around 11.00pm. Police at the scene confirmed the man was drunk at the time of the incident and confiscated his licence. It also transpired he had violated a driving ban, which led to the public prosecutor ordering the seizure of the vehicle.
Earlier on Thursday, a motorist crashed into a lamppost at the crossroads between Route de Mondorf and Rue du Parc in Bettembourg, escaping unscathed. As he was also driving whilst drunk, he was issued a provisional driving ban and had his licence removed.
A further accident took place at around 8.00pm on Thursday evening, as two cars collided on Rue d’Eich in Luxembourg City. One of the drivers had their licence confiscated. Police at the scene confirmed it had been a drunk driving incident.
