The scheme to make public transport free of charge was subject to a significant amount of criticism after initial plans precluded the Adapto bus service, designed for those with reduced mobility.

Since the backlash, which including a public petition, the government has reversed its decision.

The government council decided to make the Adapto service completely free of charge in Wednesday morning's session.

Given the petition reached the required threshold of signatures, it will be subject to a public debate on 7 November.
