Earlier in October, accusations of harassment and financial misconduct were made public against CIGR Syrdall. The head of the Regional Management and Initiative Centre has been charged with harassment and severe financial misconduct, with 2 complaints filed by the municipality of Contern - one of the five municipalities linked to the initiative.

The Luxembourg Wort reported that further details had emerged regarding the complaints. Both the head of CIGR and members of its board of directors are at the centre of criticism. The general coordinator allegedly subjected several female employees to sexual harassment, sending them photos and messages using his business phone.

A board member and local alderman for Contern, Fernand Schiltz, told the Wort he was shocked, pointing out the women in question already led difficult lives He had called for the head to step down some months ago but had not been supported in his demands.

The executive board is expected to meet on Tuesday morning, according to information from the Wort. CIGR Syrdall board chairman Mike Haagen should then provide an explanation to representatives of the five municipalities regarding work projects which have been done, and the cost thereof.

In addition, a meeting of the board of directors is scheduled for Tuesday afternoon, in the presence of a representative of the Ministry of Labour.

The municipality of Contern hinted that they would leave the initiative if no consequences were drawn from the latest developments. The mayor of Contern, Marion Zovile-Barquet, was shocked that the General Coordinator is still in office.
