RTL Today
This Friday, the new leader of Luxembourg's scout and guides associations delivered his promise at the "Kinnekswiss" municipal park in Luxembourg City.

As the new scout leader of "Scouting in Luxembourg", the federation of LGS and FNEL, Prince Guillaume will in fact be the head of 8,000 guides and scouts and their leaders. The Hereditary Grand Duke will succeed of his grandfather, Grand Duke Jean, who was a scout leader for 74 years.

In an interview with RTL, Scout leader Guillaume talked about his new commitment, the meaning of Scouting and how he witnessed his grandfather's enthusiasm for the cause. He also discusses the significance of the Scout's promise, which he delivered on Friday in the presence of the King of Sweden, Carl Gustav, as well as other Scouts of all ages.

The Scout promise:

"On my honour,
I promise that I will do my best
to do my duty to God and to my homeland,
to help other people
and to keep the Scout Law"

The Scout cause and values are transmitted through non-formal education, that is: learning by doing, the "peace education", respecting nature and the environment, and an engagement towards "creating a better world".
