Horesca is a union that represents hotels, restaurants and cafés. It represents some 2,900 companies in the country. The sector employs about 18,000 people.

In an interview with RTL, the General Secretary of Horesca, François Koepp (see video above: in Luxembourgish), suggests that there are worries surrounding hoteliers, who are suffering due to the strong competition by online platforms, such as AirBnB.

Koepp states that we finally need regulations, as online platforms provide unfair competition.
The additional day of annual leave and the bank holiday are costing the Horesca sector €5 million. The increase of the minimum wage also costs the same amount.

Small businesses are struggling more than big companies when it comes to the administrative paperwork that is required of them.
