In a recent survey, the Chamber of Skilled Trades and Crafts also asked its members to what extent the material bottlenecks are affecting them.

The National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies (STATEC) is expecting a GDP increase of 6% for 2021 and 3.5% for 2022.

However, various factors are slowing down the development in the craft sector. Now that activity has picked up again, the lack of skilled workers is once again becoming apparent.

A quarter of all businesses participating in the survey stated that the lack of skilled workers is restricting their activity. The rate has increased by six points during the first three months of the year. The construction sector is particularly affected.

Supply problems regarding raw materials are another major challenge, which has also caused prices to go through the roof.

63% of construction companies stated that they are affected. Most of them stated that the price increase is mainly lowering their own margins and not increasing prices for customers.
