The police reported on Wednesday morning that they conducted major checks in Diekirch and Ettelbruck at the train station and in the pedestrian zone last Friday.
The focus of the police checks on Friday afternoon and evening was on whether drug and immigration laws were being observed, alongside a general show of presence on the ground. A number of offences were picked up, as police explained on Wednesday.
Three warnings and seven reports were handed out for breaches of drug legislation. A small quantity of drugs was also secured and seized.
One person was taken into custody after having drunk too much and disturbing the peace. Another person was arrested after having been reported to police for breaching residence rules.
In total, 17 officers and one sniffer dog took part in the checks, alongside two police colleagues from Belgium.
