A broken down lorry blocked traffic on the right hand lane of the A6 in the direction of Luxembourg, just before the Cessange interchange.

This incident, as well as roadworks on the motorway between Strassen and Cessange, caused traffic jams as far back as the Belgian border.

At 7.15am, it took around three quarters of an hour to cover a 23km distance between Weyler in Belgium and the Cessange interchange.

On the A7 motorway, roadworks near the Gousselerbierg and Mersch tunnels also caused traffic jams in the direction of the capital.
