Minister for Public Works François Bausch and Minister of Education Claude Meisch announced on Thursday morning that the state would invest in opening two completely new schools in the next four to eight years. Additionally, the state will build a further eight buildings for currently existing schools, with the most notable examples being the Sportlycée (Sports secondary school) or the Lycée Michel Lucius.
The funding will also cover pilot project schools in the south of the country, namely in Belval and Esch-sur-Alzette, and a state European school in the capital. The Geesseknäppchen campus and a further five projects will be expanded or redeveloped.
The ministers also detailed schools moving: the ENAD - the National School for Adults - will move to Mersch and the new Sportlycée is likely to move to Mamer or the current Eurocontrol site in Kirchberg.
The government has expressed its investment objective as improving the diversity of Luxembourg's educational offer in order to meet the country's needs and explore both innovative and inclusive pedagogical concepts.
