Once the Luxembourgish Embassy in Niger opens, Luxembourg will have 30 official diplomatic representations throughout the world, not counting consulates.

To the present date, Niger relies on one diplomatic representative, who depends on and is based at the Embassy in Senegal, run by Ambassador Eric Dietz. During her visit to the Sahel, the minister announced that development aid to Niger will be increased by €11.5 million in the next cooperation programme.

In total, Luxembourg will invest €97 million in development funds to Niger, making the country viewed as one of the world's poorest the first recipient of Luxembourg's official development aid.

Continuing her visit, Lenert is now in Burkina Faso.

In addition to its 30 embassies, Luxembourg has five permanent representations (at institutions such as NATO, the EU, and the United Nations), three general consulates (New York, San Francisco, and Shangai), and 143 honorary consulates.

The Luxembourgish State owns 33 residences around the world and two official residences. The state also rents dwellings in some 20 countries.
