ING surveyMajority of Luxembourg residents spend less money due to virus crisis

RTL Today
A survey carried out by ING has found that the majority of Luxembourg residents have changed their daily spending and saving behaviours due to the ongoing virus crisis.

The majority of the respondents said they have become more careful with money and prefer card to cash payments.

More than 50% of the respondents in Luxembourg said they now spend less money than before the crisis. 41% meanwhile said they were actively trying to save money.

The reasons for the new spending habits vary. Some respondents explained that they simply had fewer occasions to spend money while others said the crisis had dealt a financial blow to their income.

According to the survey results, "some have also suffered a sharp decrease in income and/or the threat of such a loss.

Both conditions help to explain why many said they were saving a bit more - putting something aside for an uncertain future."
