Adam's idea received positive feedback and support from residents residents from Kehlen and surrounding villages. The result: his vision of a collectively used orchard became reality on Saturday. More than 200 fruits trees were planted on the national day of the tree.
A total of 244 fruit trees were planted on a 2-hectare surface. Apples, plums and mirabelle plums, berries - you name it.
Around 35% of the participants involved in the planting efforts were Kehlen residents. 15% were people from Mamer. The idea even appealed to people outside of Luxembourg: one man came down all the way from Antwerp to lend a helping hand.
In the past, there were similar orchards around all villages. They remain an important biotope in our regions as they are home to countless species of insects, birds, and owls. And, of course, they also provided villages with fresh fruits.
