Schneider drew this conclusion following a study on healthcare careers in the Grand Duchy.
The study, which was commissioned in December 2018, indicated existing problems in the sector and that only fundamental changes will be capable of remedying these issues in future, in an ageing and developing society.
A national plan is needed to make the health professions more attractive to future recruits, said Schneider. For example, the training of carers is in need of review.
The government's next objective will be to analyse the study's conclusions with professionals in the health sector with a view to adding them into the National Plan.
