Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Mobility and Public Works, François Bausch, presided over the reopening of the "Al Bréck" on Sunday, which had undergone a year of enlargement works, adding a cycle path and devices for bridge safety.

Due to the tram construction affecting Avenue de la Liberté, the city's buses have changed their routes to pass through Avenue de la Gare with immediate effect. In order to guarantee sufficient space for the new users of the road, the bridge has been expanded by 2.4 metres.
Work on the new bus lane began on 1 October 2018 and was completed in time for the deadline of 3 November 2019. In order to achieve the deadline, work on the bridge was optimised, notably by continuation of the work despite the summer break, as well as regular Saturdays and nights. The pavement will be completed in early 2020 and the full renovation will be complete by the end of next year.

Works were carried out by the Roads and Bridges Administration on behalf of the City of Luxembourg. The budget for the studies and work involved in the project reached 9.1 million euros.

The City of Luxembourg has installed a new bus route as of Sunday 3 November - a free shuttle bus, the Shuttle Gare, which will provide a link between the main roads in the Gare district, connecting with the city centre. It will serve the bus stops Gare Centrale Quai 7, Al Avenue Quai 1, Fortuna, Spuerkeess, Paris-Zitha and Al Avenue Quai, Monday to Friday between 5am and 11pm, as well as weekends from 6am to 11pm.
The introduction of this new line is part of the reorganisation of buses due to the ongoing tram project. The Shuttle Gare will thus provide service to the Gare district until the tram opens on the Stäreplaz / Place d'Etoile - Gare Centrale section at the end of 2020.
Thanks to this shuttle, the City of Luxembourg will facilitate public transport travel within the Gare district, while taking into account the needs of the elderly and people with reduced mobility as well as responding to a demand from local traders.
