Only one reactor remains operational at the Cattenom nuclear power plant, after production unit 1 was taken offline overnight from Friday to Saturday as a precautionary measure.

The plant’s operator, EDF, confirmed over the weekend that the shutdown was necessary due to exceptionally low water levels in the Moselle River, which is needed to cool the plant. For similar reasons, two additional reactors at the Chooz site, located near the French-Belgian border on the Meuse, have also been disconnected from the grid.

At Cattenom, reactors 2 and 4 are currently offline for scheduled maintenance work.
