Speaking to RTL, Djuna Bernard explained that she would be on the electoral lists for the southern constituency in the future, as she is from the south of the country and views it as her home. She highlighted that the Greens are continuing to develop the south and as someone coming from the area, views it as her duty to help the party's work there and represent her home area.
A further cause is to help local groups see their enormous potential in the south. Speaking of her own experience, she said she chose to continue living in the south and continue political work there.
Of course, the Greens have also lost two politicians in the southern constituency in a very short period of time. Former Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Justice Felix Braz suffered a heart attack in August, which has forced him to step down from his mandates. Additionally, former MP and mayor of Differdange Roberto Traversini resigned following a building permission scandal.
As Bernard explained, switching over to the southern constituency is both 'a huge challenge and not an easy job, especially stepping into Felix's footsteps'. However, the party's co-president highlighted just how much Braz's work and manner in building up the southern constituency inspired her and she hopes to do his work justice.
Last week, Bernard was RTL Radio's editorial team's guest, where she detailed the necessary changes within the party after a series of tragedies: the death of Camille Gira, Felix Braz's state, and the Traversini affair.
