Police officers found the delivery van abandoned in a field near the Fischbach/Clervaux industrial zone on Monday. Following a preliminary investigation, the officers concluded that the vehicle had been stolen.
Consequently, the police believed that the incident was a case of an aborted theft. According to the police bulletin, the thieves attempted to take a short cut from the industrial zone via the field, but ultimately got stuck and abandoned the vehicle.
The police have launched a call for witnesses who may have any information on the events which occurred on the night of 24 March, respectively during the early hours of 25 March.
Anybody who may have seen the van in question - a grey Mercedes with Belgian number plates - or its occupants should contact the police at 24487-1000.
