Police responded to a report of a break-in at a detached house on Rue d’Itzig in Hesperange at around 1.30pm on Tuesday. The resident had discovered two unknown men inside her home, who immediately fled the scene.

According to initial findings, the suspects had forced their way through a glass door at the rear of the house and proceeded to search several rooms in both the basement and ground floor. However, nothing appears to have been stolen.

A large-scale search operation was swiftly launched, involving several police patrols, a canine unit, and a helicopter.

One suspect was apprehended in the vicinity shortly after the incident, while the second was arrested at around 5.45pm on Rue de Syren in Alzingen.

Arrest in sexual assault investigation in Kirchberg

On 11 August, police received a report concerning an individual who had already been the subject of a complaint the previous day for suspected sexual offences.

Officers located the suspect near the "Poutty Stein" bus stop on Kirchberg. During the identity check, it emerged that the man was wanted under a European arrest warrant for sexual offences against both minors and adults.

Acting on the instructions of the public prosecutor’s office, police detained the man and placed him in pre-trial detention. Investigations remain ongoing.
