Luxembourg’s unemployment rate remains consistent at 4.9%, the lowest since the beginning of 2009. According to reports from the National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies (STATEC) and the National Employment Agency (ADEM), the number of people looking for long-term employment decreased even further in February. Compared to the same period last year, 4,136 fewer people were registered with ADEM, a decrease of 21%.

The number of unemployed people is decreasing across all categories, even affecting those that have been looking for a job for more than a year. Nevertheless, long-term unemployment still makes up for half of the people registered with ADEM.
The number of new registrations remains low (1,850 residents last month). The last time the monthly rate for new ADEM registrations was this low was in 2018. The number of people completing occupational activities remained elevated at 4,300 in February, a plus of 4% compared to the previous year.
In terms of new job offers, ADEM received 300 available positions in February, which now puts the overall offer at 11,000 jobs. 11% of those are interim positions.
