The alert was raised at around 2.30pm. A bomb disposal unit was called to the scene.
Police have advised the public to avoid the area until further notice.
Roads are closed around Schinkert, Holzthum, Consthum and Hosingen, including the N7.
Luxembourg's bomb disposal team are currently at work.
The Belgian army are also lending a hand in the disarming of the ordnance.
