446 prisoners are currently being held at the Schrassig prison, 20 women are among that total.
The latest figures were provided by Justice Minister Sam Tanson on Tuesday 12 May, in response to a question from CSV MP Léon Gloden.
Visits to the prison will be permitted as early as next week, having been suspended as part of an effort to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus in the facility.
With regard to the sale and use of drugs in prison, Tanson announced that prison guards will use canine drug detection teams to limit illicit activity.
