According to eye-witnesses, the young boy cycled over the crossing without braking, in turn causing a motorist to crash into him. The impact threw him against the window of the car, injuring the young cyclist.
Emergency services took him to hospital. First responders from Luxembourg City, a Mertert ambulance, and Biwer and Grevenmacher-Mertert firefighters were at the scene.
The day before, another cyclist was hit by a car at the junction between Rue Francois Hogenberg and Rue Christophe Plantin in Gasperich.
The Grand Ducal Fire and Rescue Corps bulletin reported other accidents on Monday. One person was injured after two vehicles collided in Neudorf at midday.
At 1.30pm, a motorist crashed into a tree, sustaining injuries in the process. A motorcyclist also fell off their vehicle in Kautenbach at 2.50 pm.
