The National Observatory for Children, Youth, and Quality in Education has warned that private schools as well as public international schools in Luxembourg need to be subjected to stricter supervision when it comes to student selection.

According to the Observatory, these schools often attract students from privileged socio-economic backgrounds. The body stressed the need for transparent procedures and fair admission criteria in order to prevent social segmentation within Luxembourg's school system.

The Observatory further demands that state subsidies for these schools be linked to clearly defined quality standards, alongside transparent and balanced admission criteria.

Another recommendation is that data from private schools be taken into account during educational planning, particularly to ensure an accurate assessment of the role private schools play in the broader system.
