New York indie icons The Strokes are back.

The band have officially announced their seventh studio album, Reality Awaits, set for release on June 26 via Cult Records/RCA — marking their first new material since 2020’s critically acclaimed The New Abnormal.

Leading the charge is the first single, Going Shopping, out now and offering an early glimpse into the band’s latest chapter.

The album was recorded in Costa Rica alongside legendary producer Rick Rubin, before being completed across multiple locations worldwide.

It’s a process that reflects both the band’s evolution and their continued willingness to experiment, while still holding onto the sharp, guitar-led sound that made them one of the defining acts of the early 2000s.

To celebrate the release, The Strokes are set for a huge run of global festival appearances throughout spring and summer 2026.

Highlights include back-to-back weekends at Coachella, as well as headline slots at Bonnaroo, Outside Lands, and Japan’s Summer Sonic, among others.

Formed in New York City and breaking through with their landmark 2001 debut, The Strokes have long been credited with shaping the sound of a generation.

With Reality Awaits, they return not as a nostalgia act, but as a band still pushing forward — one that continues to evolve while staying unmistakably themselves.

The tune is sure to pick up significant airplay on RTL Today Radio and features on New Noise (Wednesday 8th April).
