The perpetrator, an 82 year old man, was arrested. Acquaintances said he was known for his interest in weapons.
Shots were heard in Noertrange at the weekend when an argument allegedly broke out between the shooter and his victim, who are said to have been neighbours who knew each other. The victim and landlord had gone to his tenant's house to replace one of the locks, which then developed into a row when the tenant refused. The tenant then shot the 48 year old victim in the left shoulder.
The victim was immediately taken to hospital, where he is said to be in stable condition.
The shooter, who moved to Noertrange four years ago, had not seemed aggressive or rowdy, according to old neighbours in Weicherdange. However, his interest in weapons was well-known.
A large number of firearms were discovered when the man's house was searched. A judicial investigation into attempted murder has been opened. Video in Luxembourgish
