
Luxembourg City
A police patrol noticed a scuffle at the junction of Avenue de la Gare and Rue du Fort Neipperg at 12.45am. Officers intervened when one person attempted to smash a glass bottle over his opponent's head. The aggressor responded by throwing the bottle at police and attempting to flee, but officers were able to apprehend him before he got far. The man was taken into custody despite violent protests.
A further patrol was called as the second brawler began attacking a bystander. Police were able to immobilise him although not without a fight. Both men were found to have been drinking and were taken to a cell for the night.
At 4.5am officers were alerted to a fight between a group of people on Allée Scheffer. Although police tried to defuse the situation, one of the group became aggressive to the point of posing a danger to himself and others, so was taken into custody.
Esch-sur-Alzette
At 3.15 am a group of people were involved in a scuffle on Grand Rue, which resulted in two people suffering injuries from glass. One person was taken to hospital as a result. Shortly afterwards, Esch police found three inebriated people displaying suspicious behaviour on Rue Boltgen. Officers stopped them as they attempted to flee and took them into custody.
At 4.15am a man was pushed down and punched in the face by several people on Rue de Libération, according to the police report.
Diekirch
An argument between a group of people turned physical at 2.45am on Rue du Marché and resulted in the breaking of a nearby shop window. However, the situation had turned calm once police arrived on the scene.
One of the people involved injured themselves on glass shards and was taken to hospital. Diekirch police are investigating the incident.
Remich
Police were alerted to a fight outside a café on Rue de l'Europe at 3am. Officers on the scene found one person injured. An investigation has been opened.
Two alcohol checks
Alcohol checks were carried out in Beringen and Larochette on Friday night by order of the public prosecutor's office. 167 motorists were stopped for breathalyser checks, with five discovered to be over the limit. One licence was confiscated.
