The protest was sparked by the decision taken in mid-September by the Union of Luxembourg Businesses to step down from the Committee of Labour and Employment.
The UEL (Union des Entreprises Luxembourgeoises) made it publicly known that it no longer wanted to be part of tripartite social negotiations. For the unions, this was interpreted as a rejection of the Luxembourgish social model.
As a result, the union's invitation to the demonstration, which will take place at 7pm on Tuesday evening at the Parc Hôtel in Dommeldange, reads "Defend the rights of employees against the employers' attack".
