Dogs imported to Europe from third world countries must be vaccinated against rabies.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, recent weeks have seen several cases arise where imported dogs lacked the necessary documents and vaccinations.

Rabies is an incurable disease that still causes 60,000 deaths a year worldwide. That is why the ministry recommends not to import dogs from developing countries, but rather to turn to either a professional breeder or a national asylum when buying a dog.
