The four outbreaks or clusters detected between 22 and 28 March affected 22 students and one teacher.

On Thursday, the Ministry of Education published its weekly report of Covid-19 cases detected in Luxembourg schools.

435 pupils and teachers tested positive during the week of 22 to 28 March, 38 more cases than the previous week.

Four outbreaks were detected last week. One was at École du Brill in Esch-sur-Alzette, where a first positive case had been discovered the week before in a class which had subsequently been isolated. Further tests then revealed five more cases last week.

At the "Bei de Wäschbieren" school in Esch-sur-Alzette, a teacher in a cycle 1 class tested positive during the week. The tests carried out over the isolation period revealed seven positive cases among the pupils.

Two clusters were also identified in two secondary schools in the capital, namely Lycée Aline Mayrisch and Lycée des Garçons. In both cases, a class of first year students (septième) was affected. Eight students were affected at Alima and seven at Lycée des Garçons. These infections were linked to a private party.

The Ministry has identified 325 isolated cases in numerous classes, 51 cases of scenario 2 (i.e. maximum of two positive cases in a class with a source of infection that is uncertain or likely to be outside the class) and 36 cases linked to scenario 3 (i.e. three to five positive cases in a class).
