LuxairLow-budget flights come at the expense of the environment, argues Gilles Feith

RTL Today
On Monday morning, the Luxair CEO sat down for an interview with our colleagues from RTL Radio.

Feith first addressed the recent kerosine supply shortage, which occurred after last week's floods damaged a NATO pipeline in Germany. He explained that all issues have been resolved by now and the network is working as intended again.

"Climate change is something real", Feith concluded and conveyed that his own house was also affected by the floods.

Luxair is fully committed to reducing its carbon footprint, the CEO further noted. Without naming any airline by name, he stated that low-budget companies were to blame for most of the damages: "When a plane ticket only costs €10, nature will have to pay for the rest." When it comes to safety, Luxair has maintained its standard throughout the pandemic, Feith underlined.

Following the recent Crémant controversy, the CEO also announced that Luxair is once again serving sparkling wine from the Moselle region on its flights.

Financially, Feith conveyed towards the end of the interview, the airline is only able to survive thanks to rigorous controls of expenses.
