The Ministry of Higher Education has, for a second time, failed to find an external auditor to conduct an independent review of the University of Luxembourg’s governance structure.
Higher Education Minister Stéphanie Obertin provided this information in response to a parliamentary question from Liz Braz of the Luxembourg Socialist Workers’ Party (LSAP), noting that not a single offer was received during the ministry's latest public tender process.
In the initial attempt, although some offers were submitted, none satisfied the criteria set out in the tender specifications. As a result, the ministry is now authorised to proceed with a negotiated procedure for the audit. This allows officials to enter direct negotiations with potential auditors without launching a further public call for tenders.
In parallel, the university’s own board of governors received two offers for a separate audit concerning the internal organisation and workplace climate of the institution. The consultancy Pétillances was awarded this contract for around €100,000 (VAT included), and is expected to present its findings in June next year.
