The most notable change will be the introduction of cycling roads, in which motorised vehicles lose their right of way. Furthermore, they are not allowed to overtake bikes in those streets. The aim is to better connect the cycling network to the main traffic intersections and allow for a safer transit.
Cyclists will therefore be able to take advantage of the entire street when entering a cycling road. The municipality of Luxembourg will test a pilot project in three different locations: Rue Laurent Menager, Rue de Pulvermühl, and Rue de Bragance.
After the initial test phase, which is scheduled to last until September, authorities will evaluate the results and decide how to approach the further expansion of the cycling network in the capital.
