The Notre-Dame cemetery, one of the 13 communal cemeteries in Luxembourg-City, is home to some the big names of Luxembourgish history, and is a landscape of many a monumental grave stones, some of which are listed.
It is here where, traditionally, Archbishop Jean-Claude Hollerich delivers a speech, especially to those who have come to pay their respects to those who have passed, reminding them to stay strong and courageous.

The Archbishop also spoke on the nature of the Christian faith as a religion, not of grief, but one that finds hope within sorrow, hope of a new life.

All Soul's day, the following All Saint's Day, commemorates the souls of all of those who have passed. Most of the time, the friends and family of the deceased already bless and decorate the graves of their loved ones the day before.
