The start of October, and specifically the week running from the 5th to the 10th, will mark the national days of resilience, and it is around that moment that a new guide, currently being finalised, is due to be published and delivered to every household in the country.
Titled 'Lëtz prepare', it is designed as an information and awareness tool to help people get ready for a range of crisis and disaster scenarios.
The details emerged in the government's response to a parliamentary question from the Luxembourg Socialist Workers' Party (LSAP).
Prime Minister Luc Frieden, Home Affairs Minister Léon Gloden and Defence Minister Yuriko Backes had already unveiled the national resilience strategy back at the start of July, alongside High Commissioner for National Protection Guy Bley. The guide will build on that groundwork, setting out, among other things, what households should do to be able to fend for themselves for at least 72 hours.
