The Luxembourg government has decided to prolong the negative test rule for air travel, which was first introduced on 29 January 2021, until at least 15 May.

Starting 1 April 2021, people landing at Findel airport after returning from a non-EU country no longer need to take a rapid test. Nevertheless, the remaining entry restrictions for said travellers have been extended until 30 June.

Quarantine instead of test

If travellers refuse to take a test, they will have to quarantine for at least 14 days, or until they have changed their minds and produce a negative result.

It is also noteworthy in that regard that travellers' body temperatures will no longer be monitored at the airport.

What happens when the test comes back positive?

People testing positive will have to isolate for 10 days. During this confinement period, every form of contact with other people should be avoided, or only entertained while wearing a surgical mask if unavoidable. If this protocol is not respected, people can be awarded a fine. Tourists with positive test results will therefore have access to accommodation.

People who were in contact with a positively tested person will also have to quarantine. The same rules will apply to them, but only for a period of seven days. They will also receive a test prescription on day six.
