Three years after the Council of Competition opened an investigation into Luxembourg's pharmacy sector, they found that overregulation is harming efforts at modernisation.

The Council recommends that maximum prices of medication should be abolished.

Another essential recommendation is to abolish the fixed number of pharmacies in Luxembourg, which is currently 100, and to extend the monopoly of medication sales to other businesses, as is already done in other countries.

Finally, the Council advocates for a reform to facilitate the online sale of medication.
