Screenshots have appeared on Twitter indicating that Pirate Party treasurer Lucie Kunakova has been liking photos spreading false information. Among them is a fake photo showing the Ukrainian president, Volodymyr Zelensky, holding a jersey in Ukrainian colours with a swastika on it.

Even before the war in Ukraine, Kunakova used her twitter account to share false information, including conspiratorial tweets related to the coronavirus.

A twitter user first drew attention to these actions of the Pirate Party treasurer, leading another one to demand a reaction from the opposition party.

Upon enquiry, Pirate Party MP Sven Clement explained that the matter “has been dealt with internally”. Clement specified that there is no need for the party to demand Kunakova’s resignation, as she has already announced that she does not want to continue as treasurer. For this reason, a deputy treasurer is currently being trained, according to the MP. Clement added that the party would have demanded Kunakova’s resignation, had she not already announced it herself beforehand.

Clement stressed that the Pirate Party does not share the same ideas as its current treasurer, Lucie Kunakova. However, the MP also added that while propagating misinformation in this way is “unacceptable”, there is no need to launch a “witch hunt” for every like.

Kunakova has since deleted her twitter account.
