The police carried out several alcohol tests across the country on Friday night.

The public prosecutor's office had ordered a number of alcohol checks. Police carried out a series of breathalyser tests between 11.45 pm and 3.00 am in Ettelbruck, Diekirch and Hoscheid-Dickt. A total of 606 motorists were checked for alcohol consumption, with 14 tests coming back positive. Seven drivers got away with a verbal warning, four had to hand over their license on the spot.

In Bofferdange and Luxembourg City, notably on rue de Prague and rue de Hamm, three motorists were found to be driving despite a driving ban being in place. Two of them had also been drinking before getting behind the wheel.

Another man was fined in Diekirch for a hit and run. He collided with two other vehicles and then left the scene. His license was also confiscated.

In another two alcohol-related incidents in Kirchberg and on rue de Bouillon in Luxembourg City, two more individuals were forced to hand over their licenses.
