The price increase of the shooting licence was recently questioned by MPs Martine Hansen and Léon Gloden (both CSV), who put forward a parliamentary enquiry addressed at Minister for the Environment, Climate and Sustainable Development Carole Dieschbourg.

In her official response (LUX/FR), Minister Dieschbourg explained that the committee meets at least once per year to monitor the evolution of the wildlife damage fund, which is partially financed through the sale of shooting licences.

The committee noted that over the course of the past two years, the number of applications for reimbursements due to wildlife damage, which are financed through the respective fund, has significantly increased. To meet this elevated rate, the committee unanimously decided to raise the price of the hunting licence from €129 to €209.
