Police have launched major operations in the Limpertsberg and Bridel areas on Tuesday afternoon.
According to initial reports, a suspect attacked two women with a knife before fleeing the scene. Both sustained serious injuries, and were transported to the hospital. One woman died as a result of the injuries, with the second remaining in critical condition.
The suspected perpetrator was involved in a collision with another vehicle in Limpertsberg during the escape, and initially continued to flee. Following a police manhunt, the suspect was apprehended near Bridel. As a precautionary measure to exclude the involvement of additional suspects, a wide-area search was still in place as of early evening. Authorities are asking the public not to offer lifts to anyone in or around the affected zones.
