
According to preliminary reports, both perpetrator and victim knew each other.
The dispute reputedly erupted over unpaid rent that the landlord was demanding off of his tenant.
It seems that when the landlord went to confront his tenant at his front door, he was shot in the left shoulder by his 82-year-old tenant as soon as the door was opened.
The victim, a 48-year-old man, was brought to hospital immediately, where he had to undergo surgery. The 82-year-old offender was arrested.
The Criminal Investigation Department, homicide and forensics teams were dispatched to investigate.
The Diekirch public prosecutor representatives were also at the scene, including the Diekirch inspecting judge, who was required to open a judicial investigation into attempted murder.
The perpetrator will be presented to the Diekirch examining magistrate in the afternoon in order to determine his guilt and consequential sentence.
